A Special Message from Jan Jordan

Dear Vision Center Friends & Supporters, 

It has been ten years that we have been inviting our friends to join us in a round of golf to ensure that the college students that Clarence loved so much achieve their dreams.  In just a decade we have helped nearly 500 young people who have participated in the Synergy internship grow personally, develop professionally and gain ground in living the abundant life they want and deserve so much!

The Annual Golfless Tournament was one of those special partnership opportunities that Clarence would share with friends and supporters of the Vision Center.  So how’s about another round of golf with Clarence?  Will you join us for our 10th Annual Golfless Tournament and sponsor a college student so they can grow personally and develop professionally through the Synergy internship?  

Clarence’s prayer was that one day the Vision Center would be complete so that the needs of the precious young people coming through our doors would be met full circle.  And every step of the way Clarence always gave God the glory.  

What he did at the Vision Center for the young people was not work to him, it was a heart felt mission and ministry.  Anyone who ever shared a meal with Clarence sensed immediately his fatherly attentiveness to the 50 students that participate in the Synergy internship every summer.   He made it his priority that the resources needed to run this unique summer internship program were always secured.   

He enjoyed watching the Synergy students graduate after ten weeks of rigorous training and development!  One time a young lady shared an emotional story about her experience with homelessness.  Clarence was so moved that he got up and shared with the entire group about his personal journey out of homeless.  I remember how he told the young lady, “I know how you feel; I know what you are going through.  See I was homeless once too, but God was always with me”. And as he shared his story I remember the entire group forming a circle around him to encourage him.  It was like heaven let loose blessings!  You could feel the love in the room.  

Synergy is just as much about relationship development, healing and encouragement as it is about professional development.  He never forgot that we are dealing with human beings; each one unique and with a special story to share that helped others grow and learn.  Every year when the Golfless Tournament comes around I am reminded of moments like these and all the stories that Clarence shared with me and I am truly inspired and motivated to do my part.  

Our goal this year is $150,000 and we have an anonymous donor that has agreed to match the first $50,000 received!  My prayer is that Synergy is fully funded and that together we can help as many young people as possible achieve the abundant life they deserve!
