A Brighter Future for Students Thanks to The National Grid Foundation

At Mercy Works, we rely on the support of our community to provide impactful programs to our future leaders. The National Grid Foundation continues to give back and awarded Mercy Works a $25,000 grant to fund our Synergy internship program. We would like to sincerely thank the Foundation for giving this opportunity to our students.

The National Grid Foundation partners with non-profit organizations that implement career enhancement programs for our future workforce. Their funding assists the community and local economies, as job seekers learn the training and skills to prepare for employment opportunities (National Grid Foundation). Here are a few things you may not know about the Foundation’s impact on our community:

  • Established in New York in December 1998, the Foundation has enhanced quality of life for over 2 decades

  • Since its inception, the Foundation has provided more than $30 million in grants to non-profit organizations.

  • The Foundation has awarded funding to more than 60 workforce development programs across its service area in New York and New England.

We are honored to be one of the many non-profit organizations the Foundation supports. With their funding towards Synergy, we were able to equip college students from diverse backgrounds with the skills necessary to reach their full potential. This 10-week leadership development and paid internship program directly benefits students from our community, many of whom are the first in their families to go to college.

In 2022, 48 Synergy scholars each completed:

  • 32 hours of simulations

  • 60 hours of professional development training

  • 32+ hours of community services project hours

We are thrilled for these young scholars who now have the development, training, and exposure they need to succeed.  We hope to continue partnering with the National Grid Foundation to make a lasting impact in our communities and economies for years to come.
